Support Adonica’s Journey to FDA Clearance for her FemTech Medical Device

Adonica’s invention, Nina, combines an AI-enabled, Class II medical device with proprietary software and hardware as a redesigned speculum to deliver a transformative speculum solution for biodata collection and diagnostics for pharmaceutical companies.

As the youngest African American person globally to attempt to patent the vaginal speculum, Adonica is on a mission to revolutionize women’s health. She is working tirelessly to gain FDA approval to bring her innovations to market.

This year I will be prioritizing projects and opportunities in the following focus areas.

My 2025 Priorities

As someone who returned to school later in life to study midwifery and women’s health, I understand the complexities of balancing education with family, work, and other responsibilities. Education for adult learners is a powerful tool for personal growth and community impact, yet it comes with unique challenges.

Education and Support for Adult Learners

Health literacy for women and children is essential for empowering families to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. I believe that by providing accessible, clear, and accurate health information, we can help individuals navigate the complexities of healthcare with confidence.

Health Literacy for Women and Children

Trends show declining maternal and infant mortality rates in high-income countries, while low- and middle-income regions continue to face challenges like limited access to care, preventable complications, and malnutrition. Emerging concerns, such as the rise of non-communicable diseases and climate-related health risks, further complicate progress. More research is urgently needed to address gaps in care, develop culturally responsive solutions, and explore innovative technologies to improve outcomes for mothers and infants worldwide.

Global Maternal and Infant Health Trends

Maternal & Pediatric Oral Health & Hygiene

Conditions like gum disease and tooth decay can increase risks of preterm birth, low birth weight, and complications for the birthing parent. And unfortunately, barriers like cost, limited access to dental providers, and misconceptions about dental treatments during pregnancy leave many without adequate care.

I’m using my time to advance my groundbreaking efforts to gain FDA clearance for a revolutionary medical device for women's health. My commitment to improving healthcare is underscored by her status as the youngest African American person globally to attempt to patent the vaginal speculum, an accomplishment that reflects my dedication to innovation.

FemTech Medical Device Development

Endometriosis & Pregnancy

Endometriosis, a chronic condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, can significantly impact fertility and pregnancy. While some individuals with endometriosis conceive without difficulty, others face challenges like higher risks of miscarriage, preterm birth, and complications.

Back to Basics

When I was five, I dreamed of becoming a teacher, spending my afternoons corralling stuffed animals and neighborhood kids into "playing school." Though my lessons often devolved into chaos, those early moments planted a seed—a passion for leadership, teaching, and creating meaningful connections. Fast forward nearly 35 years, and that little girl has evolved into a seasoned entrepreneur, author, doula, and student midwife.

Over the past year, I’ve embraced a profound career pivot, stepping fully into my calling as a multi-hyphenate lifelong learner and thought leader. This journey inspired a restructuring of my brands to reflect my evolving mission: empowering individuals, self-education, self-advocacy, and compassionate care. By leaning into harsh lessons I’ve learned along the way, I’ve channeled those early periods of learning into a brand and company built on supporting others during life’s most transformative moments - more authentically than ever before.
